This week my students have been learning how to create and set up their own blogs.  They have been busy bee’s working on creating their first posts, picking themes and learning how to actually get visitors to their sites.  Today I unleashed the students on the rest of the blogging community trying to get them to get their sites listed on other blogs, directories and websites. Over the next week we will be investigating and attempting many different ways to generate organic traffic to a website.

Some of the ways to generate traffic to your website include:

Commenting on Other blogs - Contribute to someone else’s blog and they might share some traffic with you.
Forum Posts - Help people out by answer a question they might have and they might thank you by visiting your sight or adding your link on their site.
Directories - Tap into an existing networks by adding your site to their directory, (this can sometimes take time)
Social Networks - Use your existing social networks to promote your site. Create a fan page for your website and invite all your friends to join.
RSS Feeds - Get your blogs feed listed with others if you write interesting articles people will visit your site
Link Exchanges - Trade links with other website owners
