Remote Desktop

I get a lot of questions from people asking me how to access all of their files from their home computer where ever they may be. This is entirely possible and there are a number of ways to do it.

One way is to use the windows remote desktop program. This will allow you to log in to your computer from anywhere on the internet through another windows machine. You just need to know how to access it (ie what your unique IP address, computer name and password).

Another way is to purchase software (there is probably a free open source product available somewhere) that installs on your computer then you would install a similar type of software on the computer you want to access from, then your in business.

The third method is the one I am recommending for most people in terms of ease of use. This program installs on your home computer then allows you to access all your files and computer through the companies website. There is a minimal fee for this convenience however there is a free 30 day trial and a number of really interesting features, including being able to access all your files and emails from your cell phone. The program is called PCNow by WebEx.The link is listed in the banner below. Try it out for yourselves, let me know what you think.
