James Bond “Goldeneye” is in my opinion the best game ever created. For its time is was amazing because it came out when most games were side view games and it was 3D and amazing. It also brought a 4 person multiplayer which was like the one of the first.
Great Game
2 Troy // May 29, 2008 at 10:56 am
Call of duty 4
- It has good graphics and uses a modern weapon set, to create a more realistic shooter. It has a good multiplayer, and a good single player mode.
3 Livingston // May 29, 2008 at 11:01 am
Mike Tyson’s Punchout was for the original nintendo. The graphics weren’t half bad for its time and the game was really fun. Every boxer you faced had a different style so if you were a mad gamer then you could probably beat the game without being hit.
Another Classic Game

Grand Theft Auto is a game high on the sweet scale. They keep getting more violent, and your able to run around and do whatever you want, or just complete the missons.
shooting, stealing, and just plain violence makes a great video game.
5 LukasGunther // May 29, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Charlene, you are a legend.
A good video game is The Power Rangers video game for super nintendo. You get to be any of your favorite power rangers. It’s quite intense. The pink ranger is definatly hot!
6 steve // May 29, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I agree with Troy. Call Of Duty 4 is probably the most realistic game out there right now, an example of this is when you get airstriked in multiplayer mode, the player’s screen shakes violently and the effects add realism to it. Gameplay is also very smooth and quick, making the experience fun for those who play it.
Halo 3 is another great game. Since it is futuristic, the developers had to be very creative and enhance it further than it’s predecessors, even if the campaign mode is shorter than most people would like. The vast number of weapons, vehicles, and grenades to kill enemies with in multi-player mode make for some very interesting deaths, and the different and extensive multi-player games make you want to keep playing.
If a game is part of a series, each new game has to be revolutionary compared to the one prior. Grand Theft Auto 4 is basically the same as the others, just new characters, settings, and objectives. People will play it because it’s a good series, but compared to the other games in the series it’s not the best and shouldn’t be considered as a good game. The same applies with most sports games these days. Only the graphics and rosters get updated but the objective remains the same.

The Grand Theft Auto Series is probably one of the best ever made, it changed the way games were played, it is unreal for it’s time.

Games that you have to figure things out are good. where you actually have to put some thought into it instead of a mindless videogame where you just do the same thing over and over and over again. I like a variety of games, but inorder for a game to be addictive, ( which is a pretty good quality to have in a game, something that you WANT to play ) it has to have me thinking “how can I get past this?” because a game isnt a challenge if its just, shoot this guy, shoot this guy. and gaining things is good, like if in a game if you pass this level you get a new weapon or something, once again, motovation.
So to some things up, Motovation, and Challange makes a good game in my books.

Personally, I’m stuck with the Legend of Zelda series, Ocarina of Time being the all-time best. At the time of its release, the graphics were cutting edge and it really brought the previously 2D world of Hyrule to life. The story, the characters, the dungeons all factors that caused this game to go down in the history books as being one of the best video games ever.
10 Charlene // May 30, 2008 at 10:11 am
i think we should go back to super mario.
endless game, you can play for hours!!!!
who wont love a mindless game
11 bek343 // May 30, 2008 at 10:13 am
halo the original started the hole trend that made the seriese the massive media platform and started the whole xbox craze.

The Guitar Hero series is another good example. It incorporates music and gaming and is a good way for bands to gain new fans as well as for gamers who can’t play guitar, play guitar for a game.
13 Troy // May 30, 2008 at 10:15 am
Any Madden Football game. There is a good competition feel and an excellent multiplayer. The graphics and gameplay are great. Plus, you can’t go wrong with Football.
14 Charlene // May 30, 2008 at 10:16 am
Madden games are a yes, except that you have to listen to madden talk. He’s too annoying, terrible announcer, it makes me mute the game when i play.
15 Livingston // May 30, 2008 at 10:18 am
One of the best mario games ever has got to be Mario 64. That game is so fun and it was the first 3D mario game ever made. One of the all time great games and started all the 3D Mario games in the future
16 DillonWaud // May 30, 2008 at 10:18 am
World Of Warcraft- Best Game Ever
Reasons- The ever changing quests/skills etc etc they always update it. Also the game play is bomb playing with thousands of people from across the world all at the same time what other game can do that????
Game Play- 10/10 (quests, char’s, skill’s)
Graphics- 8/10 (Char’s good, enviroment decent)
OnlinePlay- 10/10 (Always online)
Setup- 9/10 (can change your keys to personaly fit you)
What Makes A Good Game?
Making a good game involes alot know a days, you need online play, you need bigger and bigger story lines and you need personnel to keep the game from getting hacked and people lowering the qualtiy of the game.
17 Troy // May 30, 2008 at 10:19 am
PONG! It started the video game revolution, and has led to a huge popularity in video games.
18 steve // May 30, 2008 at 10:21 am
The Madden series is the same as all sports games, they’re not revolutionary when they come out every year. A few new features and that’s about it. Only maybe every 5 years do you see an improvement and stuff to the franchise.
19 Troy // May 30, 2008 at 10:22 am
Assassins Creed is also a good game. Although rather long and repetitive, it has really good graphics, a massive open world to explore, easy controls, and a good story.
20 Charlene // May 30, 2008 at 10:22 am
I think the 2001 version of Madden is way better then the 2007.
they tried to add to much. lost the affect of the game.
21 Jeffrey // May 30, 2008 at 10:23 am
One of my Favourite Games is Urban Chaos: Riot Response. You go around killing members of the burners gang that are killing civilians. The fun part is you get a riot sheild. So you can beat the guys with the sheild and after you kill them their is blood on the sheild when your done so looks cool . There is a circular saw so you run around chopping people up. That is why this game one of my favourite games
22 Charlene // May 30, 2008 at 10:24 am
Games with too long of story lines are no fuin. I’d rather play the game then sit there and have to read it.
23 steve // May 30, 2008 at 10:24 am
Also, games have to be multi-player on the console for them to be good. Sometimes it’s good to play by yourself but you need to have multi-player to have some competition in it. That’s why i’m not going to say that Assasin’s Creed is a good game.
24 kmacg // May 30, 2008 at 10:27 am
The Sims.
There, I said it.
As crappy as it is when you get down to it, there is nothing more stress relieving than creating a sim of someone you hate and then totally ruining their life and/or drowning them, burning the, starving them, etc. to death. Not to mention the building aspects of The Sims 2. The detail is amazing and realistic as well in the later game.
Not to mention the build/buy mode classical music is awesome ^_^’
So although the game is pretty much a digital game of dollhouse, it does have good merits that cause it to be one of my fav games (either that or I have no life and enjoy playing god)
25 Livingston // May 30, 2008 at 10:28 am
The donkey kong games for super nintendo are some of the best side view games the i’ve ever played. In the summer me and my friends would beat all three lands summer after summer and those games never got boring
26 Charlene // May 30, 2008 at 10:29 am
Guitar Hero vs. Rock Band.
I think Rock Band would win.
you can choose more what you play, get more people involved. plus laugh at your friends when they can’t sing
27 Charlene // May 30, 2008 at 10:29 am
Sims one over Sims 2 anyday!

Roller Coaster Tycoon. The best game ever to come in a cereal box! It is a lot fun to create and manage your own theme park.

I have fond memories of Roller Coaster Tycoon. My brother went out and bought it, only to come home and get it in a cereal box the next week! He couldn’t take it back and was so mad…. Amazing game though. I especially enjoy dropping the masoct-guys into the lake.
31 steve // May 30, 2008 at 10:34 am
Rock Band is nearly the same as Guitar Hero, just with more instruments for it. It is the same concept.
However, Guitar Hero IV is going to be very similar to Rock Band.

one of the most memorable games for me is the rts Red Alert. it is a top down rts and ran on my windows 95 but it was very entertaining and i could kill hours and hours just setting it up so i allways won.

Counter-Strike in my opinion is the start of call of duty and other realistic games that are first person. It was the main start of clan battles and was a solid game.

helicopter game on the web. Small, quick, fun, and addictive to play in class.

37 bek343 // May 30, 2008 at 10:42 am

38 Charlene // May 30, 2008 at 10:43 am
i have a helicopter highscore on 4043. I know.. its embarassing. I challenge anyone to reach that.
39 kmacg // May 30, 2008 at 10:44 am
Why waste your life playing a crappy side-scroller, learn how to fly a real helicopter… or play simcopter! I spent hours, joystick in hand, rescueing people on the streets of sim city in my youth. That game was awesome, even though i only had windows 98.
40 J-Cuz // May 30, 2008 at 10:44 am
the helicopter game is so profound, it is the mopst pointless game on the net, the only pro’s i can think of it that i is light and compact so you can play it on mobile devicess. other than that it has no replay value, no unlockables and no stellar graphis

Important aspects of a video game often include…
Graphics:
For many gamers today graphics are an important factor in choosing a video game. Games with high quality graphics are appealing to people who want to feel as if they are “In the game”. Call of Duty 4, which features some of todays most amazing graphics is possibly one of the most popular games right now. This game is appealing to so many people, young and old, because these high quality graphics are new to todays gaming communities. However, great graphics does not often mean a great game.
Storyline:
Storylines are becoming increasingly important in games these days. If you look at the classic games such as “Pacman”, “Mario Kart”, “Super Mario Bros.”, “Tetris” you may realize that none of these older games feature a very detailed and deep storyline. The repetitivness of some of these games leave some gamers in boredom. A good storyline allows the gamer to play the game as if they were the character. Although almost all games today feature storylines, some that I feel standout are Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, GTA IV, The Zelda Series, Assasin’s Creed, and World of Warcraft. All these games are RPG’s, and are the easiest games to get “hooked” on. Wheather its the cop killing, drug dealing story of GTA IV (which I have yet to beat), the science-fiction, fascinating and mysterious story behind Assasin’s Creed, or the over-whelmingly large and vast storyline of World of Warcraft, we could all admit that the Storyline plays an important factor in choosing your favourite videogame.
Multiplayer:
Multiplayer has become increasingly popular since the invention of the internet. Today, you could take a rival Japanese gamer into a map like de_dust2 on Counter-Strike 1.6 and settle your differences through virtual gun fire. You and 25 of your friends could work together over the internet to complete and beat a 25-man raid on World of Warcraft. The possibilities are endless due to the introduction of online multiplayer. Some games I feel feature the greatest online gameplay would be Counter-Strike, COD 4, and of course World of Wacraft.
I like how practice in COD 4 and Counter-Strike can result in a complete “pwnage” of game and other players. Games like World of Warcraft however features another type of gameplay. It involves thousands of players interacting and working together to either complete a final goal, gain “levels”, find valuable gear ect. I could go on for hours about WoW, so I’m going to stop myself now.
Gameplay:
The deciding factor for me in choosing my favourite game is Gameplay. If the game designers design the game correctly, the player will be able to develop skills and knowledge about the game to further improve there progress in the game. For example, the first person shooters will improve the reaction time of the gamer. The RPG’s or MMORPG’s greatly increase the gamers ability to learn certain details to the game and an overall knowledge of the games platform. To progress in a driving simulator the gamer must be comfortable with the controls and sensitivty of the controller.
This is why I feel gameplay is the most imprtant aspect in a video game.
To sum things off to this excessive comment, im going to have to still say my favourite game is…yes you guessed it…World of Warcraft. Its vast and overwhelming story line is amazing. The possibilities are endless in this extreme MMORPG. I’m really sick and tired of typing so to understand why this is my favourite, go out to http://www.worldofwarcraft.com and do yourself a favour and play.

Another Great Game Is Mario party this game involved you and all your friends.. it has alot of interactive mini games that were great fun..this game didnt come with good graphics or anything the thing that made these games is the fact that you get good laughs with you and your friends and all the different kind of game play avabile with the newer mario partys like 8….

51 kmacg // May 30, 2008 at 10:54 am
For a fast-paced party game it does the job. It really gets people to loosen up and enjoy themselves. Not to mention it gets you off your feet and thinking (hence the “stupid” games). It could use more mini games though.
52 Troy // May 30, 2008 at 10:54 am
Star wars games are always a classic.
53 Jeffrey // May 30, 2008 at 10:55 am
The Half-life 2 series . The storyline is so planned out , the music is really good. The reason why i like it becuase of the Gravity gun, going around picking up stuff and throwing it at the combine or picking up saw blades and cutting a zombie in half and sending explosive barrels at headcrabs and lighting them on fire and beating people with crowbars. That is why i like games that give you different ways to kill people instead of guns.

I think the only way we’re gonna be able to determine what games are good and bad is to seperate them by console and time. Most games now come out for multiple consoles. Sometimes, the same game can be great on one, but horrible on another. There is one thing to take into account.
It would be near impossible to compare a game from roughly 10 years ago on an N64 to a game now on a PS3 because the technology has changed so much. The only way to compare them would be to see which games had an impact on the market, and how much it revolutionized gaming in general.

I agree with Shannon one of the best series would be the Resident Evil series because they are pretty long games and have a really fun factor to them. These games are really jumpy at parts which makes it way better. The graphics on the games are decent and are getting better but what completes them is the story line.

A really good game thats out now is Call of Duty 4 and is also my favourite. The graphics on it should be rated 5 stars out of 5. I think it is the best first person shooter out right now because it has the most people playing online. The multiplayer is the best part about the game because the ranking system is so well thought out. There are so many ranks to go through and it takes a long time to reach the highest one. Me, being a tenth prestige (highest rank) would know.
73 Rodenn // Jun 9, 2008 at 10:45 am
A good game in my opinion needs to have special qualities that each benefit there attribtes. For example, theres no point for great graphics if theres not enough levels in the game. Graphics give realism to the game which makes people want to play the game and want to keep playing. online is a great way for people to play because levels are never the same. there is always different players with different maps and there is a campaign mode as well.
74 Zach Birnie // Jun 9, 2008 at 10:54 am
I think the most fun game to play with your friends would have to be Rock Band. I think this because on Rock Band you can have a lead and bass guitar, a drummer and vocals. Thats a lot of people playing at once. The playlists in the game are really good too. If you have Rock Band for ps3 or xbox 360 you can download extra songs on to your playlist. You can also play with people online which makes it better so you can meet new people and make a great band.
75 Zach Birnie // Jun 9, 2008 at 10:57 am
Another game, like Rock Band is Guitar Hero 3. Guitar Hero 3 is the the guitar only but is way more intense to play. Theres a completly different playlist on GH3 then Rock Band. I personally like the Rock Band songs better but Guitar on Rock Band isn’t as good. The graphics arn’t as good as Rock Bands but is still just a fun to play. The multiplayer for this is also really fun. You can match yourself up against players online to have an intense battle against plastic guitar demi gods!
76 Brent // Jun 9, 2008 at 11:01 am
My idea of a good video game is something that is challenging, without being seemingly impossible. A game shouldn’t be able to complete within the first 24 or even 48 hours of owning it. This leaves the player feeling as though they’ve wasted their money on a game that they’ll be tired of after a week. What I look for in a game are the following:
-Smooth realistic graphics
-Fun and balanced gameplay (Doesn’t go from being ridiculously easy to hard drastically)
-Re-playability
-Entertaining
Some games which I really enjoy playing are the Zelda series, World of Warcraft, Grand Theft Auto, Oblivion, and Halo 3.
~Brent

Guitar Hero
I think this game is a good game because you get to play all kinds of songs and its fun to play when you are bored.
78 Rodenn // Jun 10, 2008 at 10:25 am
The difference between a good game and a great game is simple.
How enjoyable is the game to the user?
If a game maker can master the game in many ways that kids who play enjoy then the game will be a success. Aspects to a good game may be the average 1rst person shooting mode with average grphics, decent online play and only a few fun maps. A great game will consist of ahead of its time graphics, many maps or a large map area with lots to do, so the user dosent get bored after the first mission. Creative aspects in Call of Duty 4 for instance would be the great online play and availabilty of real weapons and able to use a knife to beat a victim. the last stand is a very cool aspect of the game that I enjoy. If you get many kills you also get either a fighter jet, or a helicopter to kill your victims which leads you to strive for the highest scores. All those aspects are only a few of many and all on the online mode. Call of Duty 4 mastered the game and thats why it is so widely spread and thats also why it has been mentioned in almost every post above on what makes a great game.
79 sidork // Jun 10, 2008 at 10:27 am
Challenging: A good video game should have a challenge or a set goal to accomplish. It should be difficult but should not be impossible to accomplish.
Story line: Does it have a story line that you can follow. If it jumps around and does not have a storyline that is interesting then it is not a good game(unless it is a game like wrestling or soccer).
Flexibility: Is there more then one way to get past the objective. For example if you have to shoot a certain person before getting a prize it may not be flexible. There are exceptions though like if you have to find a gun be for you have to shoot the person and some other stuff.
Fake vs. Real: Does the game have some realistic characteristics as well as fake ones too. If the game has to much realistic characteristics it could be boring. So it needs a mixture of both.
Rewards: At any part of the game do you get a new ability or a reward for completing a task or getting so far in the game
Graphics: Does the game have good graphics? Graphics play only a small role in the game. A game with good graphics could have a bad storyline.
Multi-player: Does the game let you play with more that one person. It depends on the game but some games that don’t have multi-player can become boring after you are done the game because you cant do anything after the game is done. If there is multi-player you can play the game longer than if you had to play yourself.
Sound: Does the game have good sound. Is it realistic to what is happening in the game and does it engage you into the game.
Fun: Did you think it was a fun game to play and will you play it again.
80 Rodenn // Jun 16, 2008 at 10:03 am
originality is a key concept in the making of a great game. to many games these days are all the same and many are not being played because of similarities. original games can be a big risk when it comes to the amount it was being played. the original game can be a great hit and played all the time because there is no other games like it and kids love it, such as guitar hero when it first came out, it was a great hit because there were no other games like it. but other games that are original but just plain boring to play and dull to the user will not be played at all. If the plan for a great original game is planned out i know that i and many others would give it a try, and who knows, the game could turn into the greatest game of its time.
81 J-Cuz // Jun 16, 2008 at 10:58 am
The most important part of an online multiplayer is waiting, cuz in order to get you hooked you need to be able to practice, and if you die and then have to wait five minutes to play again why would you keep playing? doesnt sound that fun to me. so games liek gears of war where they have different game types are good cuz you can spawn right away for practice, or if your already good you can play to more intense game where you dont respawn untiln the next round.
82 alicia // Jun 25, 2008 at 10:50 am
I think what makes a good game is the graphes, Because without the graphes i dont think the game would be the same.
I also think in order to have a good game you need to make it challangeing for the players so that they will want to keep playing and trying to make it to the next level.
83 alicia // Jun 25, 2008 at 10:59 am
I think that rock band is a good game because there are diferent insterments that you can play. It is also fun because it is like having your own band. It is also a go0d game when you are bored and it is a fun game when you play with your friends.

What makes a go0d game i think is when you get to shoot people or you go hunting i think that many teenagers think this makes a good game because it seems that these days that is what keeps them playing the game. i think that if there was no shooting in the games than it wouldent be as much fun as they are today.
