As individuals looking to connect with these companies for things like business opportunities or jobs Twitter can provide you with an insight into their activities.
Yesterday I came across a site to help you find companies who are using Twitter. Twibs.com is a site that indexes businesses on Twitter and allows you to search by category. This is great for you to find both small and large businesses in a particular field of interest.
Today what I would like you to do is find at least 10-20 companies on Twibs that you might be interested in learning more about and follow them on twitter.
Once you are following all these companies see if you can pick up on any current market trends that might impact your job search based on what they are publishing on Twitter.
What are some of the obvious trends that you can pick up from these companies?
How are these companies using twitter to interact with their customers?
What new products or services are companies promoting?
What can you determine is the current economic outlook for most of these companies?
What companies if any are hiring right now? What other companies in the same markets might be hiring based on this information?
